Vanderbilt Contributes Funding to Host Next TDLC All-Hands Meeting

San Diego, CA, June 21, 2007 -- The next all-hands meeting of the Temporal Dynamics of Learning Center (TDLC) will take place in Nashville, TN, thanks to a generous contribution from host site Vanderbilt University. thanks to a $100,000 contribution from Vanderbilt University Provost Nicholas Zeppos.

The $100,000 contribution by Vanderbilt Provost Nicholas Zeppos will make it possible for TDLC's large San Diego-based staff, faculty and students to attend the meeting.

Zeppos is also Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Professor of Law. Zeppos is responsible for working with the academic deans of the university in developing and executing Vanderbilt University's core mission and strategic academic plan. The Provost oversees the Development and Alumni Relations activities of the University, and Residential and Student Life. He also chairs the University's Integrated Planning Budgeting Council.

This is the second annual all-hands meeting of the UC San Diego-based center, which investigates time as a crucial element in the learning process and integrates the study of learning dynamics across multiple time scales -- from milliseconds, to life-long learning. This new science of the temporal dynamics of learning is meant to inform educational practices and result in better learning outcomes. TDLC is a partnership of UCSD, Salk Institute, Vanderbilt University and Rutgers, and it is based in the UCSD division of the California Institute for Telecommunications. Funding for the project came from the National Science Foundation.here."
