Comhear Inc. Voted Finalist at Connect 2015 Most Innovative New Product Awards

San Diego, Calif., Nov. 18, 2015 — The San Diego Connect 2015 awards have honored Comhear Inc., a founding tenant of the Qualcomm Institute Innovation Space (QIIS) at the University of California, San Diego. Comhear was voted as a new technology finalist at the October ceremony, and CEO Perry Teevens, along with the engineering team at Comhear Inc., accepted the Most Innovative New Product Award (MIP) in the Software and Digital Media category.

(L-R) Robert Kutnick, Sam Shifron and CEO Perry Teevens of Comhear, Inc., accept the New Product Award in the Software and Digital Media Category at the San Diego Connect 2015 awards. Comhear, Inc. was also selected as a new technology finalist.

“We are thrilled to be selected for SD Connect Finalist Award for Most Innovative Product in our category," said Teevens, "and that our MyBeam™ product stood out in a competitive field. San Diego is a great community for high tech businesses. We look forward to achieving the next level of the competition."

Among the earliest tenants at QIIS, Comhear, Inc. signed a multi-million-dollar deal in 2014 to develop products jointly with the Qualcomm Institute’s Sonic Arts R&D group, led by Peter Otto, and continue to be affiliated with QI. The company built a line of new products based on an exclusive license to audio beamforming technology originally developed by Otto’s group, as well as a suite of innovative audio software, products and services for spatial conferencing, gaming, music and streaming video.

Teevens said the Connect Finalist Award "validates the exceptional audio experience delivered by the MyBeam speaker array," particularly for near-field applications like computer gaming and hand-held devices. MyBeam™ creates a 360-degree sound experience without the need for headphones. Sound beams are directed to each ear, enabling listeners to better locate sound sources, even with their eyes closed

San Diego Connect recognizes technology and life sciences companies for their innovation and promotes them to the San Diego technology and VC community. "It’s quite an achievement to be recognized as a finalist among the many local companies small and large in the San Diego area. Finalists will now advance to the Distinguished Judges Panel and the category winner will be honored at a MIP awards dinner next month.
