Smarr and Calit2 Featured at Chancellor's CEO Breakfast

3.24.04 -- Yesterday's fourth in a series of UCSD chancellor's breakfasts, organized by the campus Corporate Relations Office, featured a presentation by Calit² director Larry Smarr. The purpose of these breakfasts is to acquaint San Diego's CEO community with exciting UCSD programs and faculty.
The meeting was attended by 25 CEOs representing companies in the pharmaceutical, software, computer gaming, plant biology, banking, venture capital, and legal industries. This group included Duane Roth, chairman and CEO of Alliance Pharmaceuticals as well as a member of Calit²'s Advisory Board. Besides Smarr, other institute representatives from UCSD included Ramesh Rao, UCSD division director; Jeff Nagle, UCSD division industrial relations; and Stephanie Sides, Calit² director of communications.
Previous events have featured Robert Sullivan, dean of the Rady School of Management; Frieder Seible, dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering; and Peter Cowhey, dean of graduate school of International Relations and Pacific Studies.
