Dates for Six-Part Lecture Series:

Time: All lectures are from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

Location: McDonnell Douglas Engineering Auditorium, UCI

The six one-hour lectures will present a systematic exposition on ultra-high speed optical soliton communications-from the theoretical foundation to the current status of experiments with particular attention to nonlinear effects. Topics to be covered include information transfer in optical fibers, the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, optical solitons, time jitters, soliton controls, dispersion managed solitons, recent experimental results, and future issues.

Professor Akira Hasegawa is the inventor of optical soliton communication concept and is the recipient of the prestigious Rank Prize (British) and the American Physical Society Maxwell Prize.
