RESCUE Project Open Poster Session and Reception
An open poster session and reception highlighting the current and ongoing research of the RESCUE (Responding to Crises and Unexpected Events) project will be held in the Pre-Function Area of Atkinson Hall (the new UCSD Calit2 Building) on Monday, January 9, 2006, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. The event includes demonstrations and is open to the public.

The event will be an opportunity for attendees to meet RESCUE project scientists, students, and researchers, and learn more about RESCUE's research activities and goals. Attendees are expected to include industrial partners, first responders, researchers and community members.
An Information Technology Research Project (ITR), RESCUE is an interdisciplinary effort that brings together researchers from a variety of fields to explore technological innovations which will improve and expedite the delivery of critical information - the right details, to the right people, at the right time - during crisis response. RESCUE researchers include computer and networking scientists, engineers, social scientists, disaster science experts, and students in these fields.
The Monday January 9 reception, demonstrations, and poster session are part of the annual RESCUE All-Hands Meeting, which is being held at UCSD this year. The meeting itself is invitation-only. Over two days, RESCUE personnel from all participating institutions, which span the U.S., will take part in a series of discussions about the project's current status, future goals, and latest results.
Directions and Parking Information
A limited number of free parking spaces will be available for attendees of the poster session in the Gilman Parking Structure, located at the corner of Villa La Jolla Drive and Gilman Drive.
Directions to the Gilman Parking Structure: From I-5, exit La Jolla Village Drive and go west (left from north-bound I-5; right from south-bound I-5). Turn right on Villa La Jolla Drive (stoplight). At the Gilman Drive intersection, go straight, directly into the Gilman Parking Structure. Reserved parking spaces will be marked "RESCUE AHM 2006."
Directions to Atkinson Hall from the Gilman Structure: There will be directional signs labeled "RESCUE AHM 2006" leading from the Gilman Structure to Atkinson Hall (the new UCSD Calit2 Building) for those who wish to walk. It is a nice flat walk through campus that takes about 10 minutes.
If you do not wish to walk, there is a Campus Loop Shuttle (bus) stop just outside the Gilman Structure. Exit the structure onto Gilman Drive (the direction you entered) and catch the Counter-Clockwise Campus Loop Shuttle (the stop for this direction is on the opposite side of the street from the Gilman Structure). Tell the driver you want to stop at "Warren Apartments." The shuttles run every eight minutes to each stop.
Additional detail and maps are available on the meeting site.
