Emulex Graduate Fellows Named at Calit2@UCI

Irvine, Calif., June 27, 2006-- Sixteen UC Irvine graduate students have been named 2006-07 Calit2 Emulex Fellows. The new Fellows, who represent a variety of schools and departments, will use the fellowship awards to further their work on Calit2-related dissertations or theses. The 16 were chosen from a pool of 90 applicants, the largest in the history of the fellowship program. The one-year award is funded by a generous gift from Calit2 corporate partner Emulex Corp., a Costa Mesa, Calif.-based manufacturer of storage networking devices.

The new graduate Fellows are:

Each student will present a one-page progress report on his/her dissertation or thesis work at the end of the award period. In addition, the Fellows will participate in ongoing Calit2 seminars and summer undergraduate research activities, as well as monthly brown-bag seminars where they will present their work to their colleagues. They will also help organize and participate in the Graduate Student Interdisciplinary Workshop, scheduled for spring quarter.
