San Diego, CA, June 17, 2008 -- The student-run UCSD $50k Entrepreneurship Competition ended on May 31 with an event held in the Calit2 Auditorium in Atkinson Hall on the UCSD campus. The event featured presentations of business plans by the top five teams, and subsequent awards to the top three. First place went to the team presenting a plan for NeuroVigil, Inc. Runners-up were Lumigen Biosciences and, in third place, SciVee, the new online multimedia service for scientists. The $50k competition aims to foster community involvement and technological innovation by bringing multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and business-minded students together with local area entrepreneurs and professionals.
