San Diego, February 5, 2016 — DesignLab UCSD is pleased to announce a call for video shorts by UC San Diego researchers, students, and others on campus for MicroVideo, a Design Lab exhibition in Calit2's Qualcomm Institute (QI) this spring in Atkinson Hall. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, February 23.
Light-weight, high-resolution video has opened up new outlets for scholarly and creative research. Design Lab seeks microvideos –- shorts or cuts from research videos, motion-prototypes, speculative designs, or video works –- from UC San Diego and QI researchers for display on a multi-monitor exhibition in the Calit2 lobby. MicroVideo will explore the ways in which micro computing and moving image-based research produces unique visual and aesthetic effects, and provides an outlet for unusual or peripheral findings.
All UC San Diego researchers (faculty, students, affiliates) are invited to submit up to a 2-minute video short or clip. Selected videos will be exhibited in MicroVideo on a tiled display wall to be deployed in the lobby of Atkinson Hall.
MicroVideo is presented by Design Lab and Design Lab Creative UCSD in partnership with CAT (Culture Art Technology), The Visual Arts Department and the Qualcomm Institute.
