Plan to Attend IPv6 Summit in June -- Calit2 to Co-sponsor
5.3.04 -- Calit² is a repeat sponsor for this biannual event, which focuses on IPv6, described as “preserving everything that’s good about today’s Internet - and adding much more: unlimited address space to connect everyone and everything, stateless auto-configuration, seamless mobility, automated network management, mandatory security and new optional service levels.”
The summit “welcomes everyone interested in meeting the pioneers and time-to-market developers and adopters of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), the Next Generation Internet. The North American IPv6 Summit is the premier event for the world IPv6 community, providing an international forum for advancing the development and implementation of next generation Internet networks, technologies, applications and policies.” The meeting will report on IPv6 applications and content delivery.
The keynote is being given by Vinton G. Cerf, MCI, on June 16 at 9:00 AM. Cerf recently joined the Calit² Advisory Board. The agenda also features Calit² director Larry Smarr who will discuss the “Emerging Global e-Science Cyberinfrastructure” on June 17 at 12:30 PM. This meeting is being organized by Calit² scholar Alex Lightman.
Says Lightman, "Calit² has been a strong academic supporter of the IPv6 summits in the North America. They are reiterating their support for IPv6 once again by sponsoring this conference, with director Smarr giving a talk on current experiments with IPv6 by Calit² faculty and partners. We encourage members of the greater Calit² community to participate, and connect socially with the leading experts in the next-generation Internet at the IPv6 Summit."
This event will take place June 14-17, 2004, at Loews Beach Hotel, Santa Monica, California.
Registration before May 8 is $299 for general admission, and $199 for military/government and university faculty, staff, and students. A reduced registration rate of $99 is being offered to Calit² faculty, students, and staff, which includes breakfast and coffee breaks.
