Calit2 receives support from the State of California, which provided $100 million in a one-time grant to design and construct buildings on both campuses with unique, core, shared facilities. Calit2 researchers also compete with their peers for research support from federal funding agencies, notably the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, and state agencies, such as CalTrans. Additional support is provided by the UC Discovery Program, which provides funds to match industrial support.
