Bio: Professor Dey is affiliated with the California Institute of Telecommunications and Information Technology, the UCSD Center for Wireless Communications, and the DARPA/MARCO Gigascale System Research Center. He has been a technical consultant to ST Microelectronics and NEC USA, and chairs the Scientific Advisory Board of Zyray Wireless. Dey has co-authored more than 130 publications, including journal and conference papers, a book on low-power design, and several book chapters. He received Best Paper awards at DAC in 1994, 1999, and 2000, at VLSI Design Conference in 1998 and 2003, and several best paper nominations. He has been the General Chair and Program Chair, and member of organizing and program committees, of several IEEE conferences and workshops.

Research: Sujit Dey heads the Mobile Embedded Systems Design and Test Laboratory (http://esdat.ucsd.edu), which is engaged in developing adaptive algorithms, protocols, and deep sub-micron hardware-software architectures for cost-effective, quality-aware, and reliable wireless data services, including emerging sensor network based services. Prior to joining UCSD, Dr. Dey was a Senior Researcher at NEC, where he led projects in high performance and low power embedded system-on-chip design and test, leading to several technology transfers both within NEC and outside. Dey is a co-inventor of 10 U.S. patents, and has several pending. He has presented numerous tutorials and invited talks, and participated in panels, in the topics of design and test of deep sub-micron system-on-chips, low-power hardware-software embedded systems, and low-power wireless systems design.
