Bio:

Chaitan came to SDSC from the IBM Corporation. Prior to his career at IBM, he was an assistant professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He obtained his Ph.D. and M.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida and his undergraduate degree (B.Tech.) in Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. As a senior principal scientist, Chaitan uses his Ph.D. in electrical engineering, and areas of expertise in data base systems and digital libraries, to head the enabling technologies group at the supercomputer center.
