Bio: Star's research has been in the sociology of science and technology, especially concerned with new information technologies and life sciences. She has analyzed work practices and knowledge production in a range of venues, including museums, laboratories, hospitals, libraries and high-tech research and development sites. Her analytic approach draws on symbolic interactionism, activity theory, and feminist theory.
