Job Description:

Xinyu Zhang is entering his second year as a graduate student in the Computer Science and Engineering department at UC San Diego, where he is pursuing an M.S. degree. Aside from his current research participation on FPGA and convolutional neural networking, Zhang works on web development and is a research assistant in the newly-formed Pattern Recognition Laboratory of Calit2’s Qualcomm Institute on the UC San Diego campus. Zhang began at UCSD in 2015 after receiving his B.Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering and Information Science from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). In 2014 he was also a research assistant in USTC’s Bioinformatics Lab, where he developed an algorithm for tracking heart rate activity during intensive physical exercise; he co-authored a paper on “MICROST: A Mixed Approach for Heart-Rate Monitoring During Intensive Physical Exercise Using Wrist-Type PPG Signals”, presented at the 37th annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. Zhang was also a teaching assistant at USTC on Data Structures and Algorithms.
