Waking Up To Sleep

By Doug Ramsey, dramsey@ucsd.edu

San Diego, CA, February 21, 2007 -- The UCSD Division of Calit2 recently co-sponsored a forum on the science of sleep, organized by The Science Network at the Salk Institute. The "Waking Up to Sleep" conference Feb. 9-10 featured a stellar cast of some of the world's leading researchers in areas from cognitive science to neuromedicine. They tackled a wide range of questions, including: What's the link between overeating and undersleeping? Will naps make you smarter? How many sleep states are there? And, ultimately, Why do we sleep at all? All of the talks are now archived for on-demand viewing.
